Obituary of Bertha Szilock

SZILOCK – Bertha:  With deep sadness the family of Bertha Szilock announces her passing on Thursday, July 6, 2017 in Mississauga, at the age of 97.  Predeceased by husband Steve (2000) and son John (1984).  She is survived by children Ralph (Donna), Pat (Fred), Betsy (Michelle), Valerie (Nick) and daughter-in-law Shirley (Jim), grandchildren Kyle, Brent, Tracy, Ryan, Andrea, Nick and 8 great grandchildren. Bertha emigrated from Valelunga Romania (formerly Hungary) to Canada with her parents John and Elizabeth Koncz in 1928, settling in Regina before moving to Burlington.  Steve and Bertha married in 1941 and settled in Simcoe.  She was an avid gardener, a great cook, and an accomplished seamstress, as well as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Friends are invited to meet with the family on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 10 – 11 a.m. at THE BALDOCK FUNERAL HOME, 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place and interment at Oakwood Cemetery will follow the Reception.  Those wishing to make a donation in Bertha’s memory are asked to consider The Norfolk General Hospital Foundation or a Charity of One’s Choice.  Online condolences at www.baldockfuneralhome.com
