Obituary of Joseph Stickl

STICKL, Joseph, age 85, passed away peacefully at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe on Sunday July 1st, 2018. Joseph was born in Hungary on February 18, 1933 and came to Canada in 1951. Joseph resided in Round Plains where he farmed tobacco for many years. Joseph was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Simcoe, and the Delhi German Hall.  Joseph was known for his quick wit and humor, and his love and pride for family. Joseph is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Karoline Stickl (nee Bitz), parents Henry and Eva Stickl.  Joseph is lovingly remembered by son Rudy (Cyndy) Stickl of Round Plains, daughter Rosemary (Gary) McQuiggan of Langton, grandchildren Melissa (Julian) Stickl Stewart, Allison (Anthony John) VanBerlo, Justin (Crystal) McQuiggan, Trevor Stickl, Michelle (Joshua Wade) McQuiggan.  Joseph was also the proud great grandfather of Reid and Lucy VanBerlo, Emily and Alissa McQuiggan.  Joseph is also survived by sister-in-law Katie Hirmann and her husband John of Waterloo, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, July 4^th, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at THE BALDOCK FUNERAL HOME.  The funeral service will be held on Thursday July 5^th at 11 a.m. from  ST. PETER’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 155 Colborne St. N., Simcoe.  Reverend Dan Abraham officiating.  Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery.  Those wishing may donate in Joseph’s memory to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, the Norfolk General Hospital Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.
