Obituary of John Kruger

John Mitchell Kruger

1948 – 2018

With great sadness we announce the death of John on February 20, 2018. Surrounded by family, he passed peacefully after a hard-fought battle with prostate cancer. He is survived by his wife Wendy (Wolski), children Jennifer, Todd, Traci, Chris, Kyle, their spouses, and an empire of beloved grandchildren.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa on June 25, 1948, John came to Canada in 1950 with his Mother, to live most of his life in Brantford and Cambridge, Ontario. After his retirement, John and Wendy settled in Port Dover.

With Wendy by his side, John enjoyed frequent vacations in the heat of Cuba, and was equally fond of long stays at the trailer; first at Rice Lake for 17 years, presently at Shady Acres for the last 14 years.

In between rounds of hunting and fishing, John reveled in his natural talent to host and entertain. He loved welcoming friends and family to his home for a visit, food and beverage. In his retirement during the winter months, you could find John in his “dungeon” watching sports or scroll sawing.

John loved to tell a good story, to make people laugh, to watch his grandchildren run circles around him, “and he loved to drive his wife crazy!” We’ll leave that last bit unattributed. ;)

John’s legacy is one filled with vivacious life, a powerful sense of humour, a contagious smile, and a heart dedicated to cherishing family. He will be deeply missed by family members and friends.

The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff of Norfolk General Hospital in Simcoe, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to the hospital are appreciated. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. THE BALDOCK FUNERAL HOME, 96 Norfolk St. N., Simcoe in care of arrangements.  Those wishing to make a donation in John’s memory are asked to consider The Canadian Cancer Society or The Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.  Online condolences at www.baldockfuneralhome.com
