My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. Martin was kind and generous. He was the reason my son finished the football season during his grade 9 year. He was a great guy to talk to and was passionate about everything he did. His impact on the education community is a great loss to many. I will miss talking to him about our common concerns and ideas.

We had so much fun this summer getting to know Martin. Watching him play with the kids and fall off that crazy water trampoline was awesome. I know he’ll be missed by many, but he made wonderful memories for everyone to hold on to. I’ll think of him and smile every time I make butter chicken.
With love and prayers,
Your Arkansas Family

Mr. Macneil was a constant blessing to those who had the pleasure of him, in their daily lives. He had a genuine interest in anyone who approached him and such a talented way of drawing his students attention to whatever the matter was. He was an amazing man who would treat everyone with the same compassion, kindness and understanding. He gave me such an understanding and appreciation for world history I'll never lose what gifts he gave, both academically and emotionally. Thank you so much for every second you gave us.

I always enjoyed chatting away with Martin, whether it be about our kids & family, 'school stuff' or how we were going to take each other down in the football pool! Two summers ago, he helped my youngest get hooked on baseball. He patiently coached Spencer through his first year of T-Ball and I'm grateful for that. Martin cared about kids and invested so much time in the classroom and on the field, but his heart was with his family. One of the last times I talked with him, he was telling me all about his trip to the south this past summer. Such a kind man and he will be missed by all of us here at Simcoe Composite. My deepest condolences to you, Sheena, Finnegan, Eoin and Danica and the rest of your family.
