My first memory of Aunt Shirley was when my mother brought me to her house from New Brunswick when I was about 3 years old. I remember that it felt like home and was the gathering place for family. Once we moved to Simcoe, a few years later, we would spend a lot of time there. It was the place the entire family met for holidays, pool parties, or just random visits and get together. Every year, I went trick or treating at Halloween around her neighborhood with Joanie and Larry, while mum and Aunt Shirley visited. Aunt Shirley's house became a safe place to go, just to get away. When I came home from basic training on Christmas break, I was so excited and proud to go visit her in my uniform. My mum and Aunt Shirley are probably still holding each other in Heaven. I wish I could be there to celebrate her life with all my aunts, uncles and cousins! Our thoughts are with you!
